The Floor Store has been selling and installing quality floor covering from Main Street in West Stockbridge, Massachusetts for over thirty five years. We’ve been “flooring people” since 1983! When we built our building, we named it ”The Phoenix Building” because it had burned down a year or two before we bought the space (some of you may remember it as ”Miss Ruby’s Restaurant”).
At the Floor Store . . .We specialize in custom floors of all kinds: ceramic tile, prefinished wood floors (nailed, glued, and floating installations), vinyl sheet and tile floors of all types, carpeting, rugs, laminates, and commercial floors such as radial rubber tiles, sheet rubber, inlaid vinyls, and custom vinyl tiles for the discriminating taste. Since we especially like custom ceramic work, we also do walls as well as floors – such as showers, bathrooms, kitchen countertops and backsplashes with things like glass mosaics, tumbled marble, and intricate inserts both factory made and custom built to your specifications right in our workshop. Wood stove heat shields, hearths, multiple-surface combinations like ceramic tile with polished marble feature strips. Ask for the extraordinary… please!

The Floor Store prides itself in showing and offering things out of the ordinary. If you’ve seen something somewhere that has really caught your eye, try to take a picture of it (at least a mental picture anyway) and bring it to us. If you saw something amazing in Manhattan or Boston …Oregon or Seattle, even Italy, Spain, Japan or India… if it’s available on the market, we can probably track it down.
Our store is directly opposite the Old Town Hall on Main Street in West Stockbridge – next door to The Public Market. We are open Tuesday through Saturday, from 9AM to 4PM. Come by on a warm summer day, sit on the balcony overlooking the peaceful Williams River and watch the trout go by. We’re in the heart of the beautiful Berkshires. Many people come for a weekend and want to stay forever. And many do. They keep us busy and we’re grateful for it..

This is a friendly competent local merchant that everyone in Berkshire and Columbia Counties should be dealing with. My wife and I planned to remodel one of our bathrooms starting in April of 2020. This project was put on hold for more than a year because of the pandemic. However, the project has just been completed. Joe Roy, and his wife Mary, were great about rescheduling our new shower and floor tiling. Their installer, who did the on-site work, always arrived promptly, was easy to deal with, and did an outstanding job. I believe that their prices are competitive with the big-box stores, however you get so much more individualized attention and service from a place like The Floor Store.

Joe, Jr. and Mary spent hours with me helping me find just the right pattern, texture and color of carpet for my front steps runner. We looked at hundreds of samples and boards, and yet their patience never waned! Their prices are competitive, in fact, even lower than several of their local competitors. Their installer was quick, meticulous and efficient as well, installing the carpet with a minimum of disruption. I would not hesitate to recommend them if you are looking for flooring materials!!!

Twenty years ago we worked with The Floor Store as we chose tile for our house. Now, with a garage apartment underway, we’ve turned once again to the Roy’s family business, and have received the same knowledgeable and conscientious advice and service as before. For this project, we were choosing floor and wall tile, as well as solid bamboo flooring. We don’t do this every day, so it was great to have the benefit of experienced people like Joe Roy, Jr. (our primary contact for the garage project) in choosing aesthetically pleasing and practical products. We installed some of the material ourselves and had a Floor Store subcontractor do the custom shower surround. It featured light tile and dark grout, an unforgiving combination, but it came out great— very precise. Also, the tile contractor suggested two changes when he saw the job—one about the niche and the other regarding the placement of a shelf— which we gratefully incorporated into the design. We made another design change on our own that we forgot to tell Joe about, but he bent over backwards to get us the extra tile needed in time. The Roy’s have built a great business in The Floor Store, and I highly recommend them.
